Work has now commenced on the build and fit out of a new £750,000 community sports hall facility for Altrincham Football Club.
Located next to the main stand at the Club’s ground on Moss Lane in Altrincham, the new building will provide a new venue for the Clubs Community Charity, including soft sports, community events, functions, as well as providing the Club with a new match day bar plus improvements in the changing facilities under the main stand.
Following the end of the Clubs season, work has kicked off on the build of the community hall which will feature community offices, club shop, a new licensed bar, kitchen, disabled toilet and storage facilities around a large open plan multi use space. Work is estimated to take 22 weeks, with the scheduled completion in late November, ready for the busy end of year period.
Appointed following a competitive tender process, McGoff & Byrne will manage the ‘design and build’ and fit out of the project and will be responsible for delivering the completed building on time and within budget. McGoff & Byrne will manage the project from its office in Broadheath but will also have a presence on site at the football ground to supervise work on a daily basis.
Altrincham FC was impressed with McGoff & Byrne’s approach to the tender and its ability to value engineer the scheme to bring it in on budget without compromising on the style of the building or quality of materials used in its construction.
Ian Foden, of Altrincham based Engineering Design Partnership who is managing the construction project for Altrincham Football Club, commented: “The Club is working hard to engage with its local Community and the Community Sports Hall is a key part of this strategy, enabling local residents to participate in a wide range of sporting and leisure activities. The facility will also help the Club to maximise its match day revenues as well as to generate additional income streams as we can increase fund raising by holding football events ‘in house’. As a Community based club, we are delighted to be keeping it local and working with such a well established and reputable contractor that is based in Altrincham.”
Declan McGoff, Operations Director at McGoff & Byrne, added: “Our work takes us all over the UK and internationally too, but we are always pleased to win business in the North West and especially happy to help another local business with a construction project that will ultimately help secure the future of the Club and enable it to continue to thrive in Altrincham. We are delighted that Altrincham have done so well in achieving promotion via the play offs and hope that they can look forward to a great season in 2014-15.”
