Bourne Leisure has appointed McGoff & Byrne to the £14.6m first phase of a redevelopment of its Butlins holiday resort at Minehead in Somerset. McGoff & Byrne is responsible for the entire build and fit-out of the scheme which comprises a mix of 117 lakeside, lake view and park view chalets arranged in one and two storey cluster blocks in landscaped parkland around two newly created lakes.
As part of its renewable energy strategy for the project, McGoff & Byrne will reuse reclaimed material from lake excavations to minimise the use and impact of imported materials.
Ian Cutler, head of property at Bourne Leisure, said: “We were hugely impressed with the proposal put forward by McGoff & Byrne and look forward to working with them on this exciting first phase at Minehead. By enhancing the accommodation offering and introducing more open space and water features we aim to add to the overall experience for couples, families and corporates and make their stay with us even more memorable.”
Dave McGoff, executive director at McGoff & Byrne, added: “The whole team is extremely proud to have been appointed by Bourne Leisure. Butlins is long established and remains incredibly popular and we are honoured to be involved in enhancing the experience for future generations.”
The architect for the scheme is Disley-based Allison Pike.
